WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT COUNCILS OF ALABAMA

Ten Regional Workforce Development Councils have been established and provide a direct link to the workforce needs of business and industry at the local level. The Councils are business-driven and business-led and work with their member counties to develop a regional strategic plan and comprehensive workforce development system that supports local economic and job development activities. The Councils must approve any application submitted for funding through the Governor's Office of Workforce Development. A link to the Project Guidelines and Application for Funds can be found below.

2009 Alabama State of the Workforce Report and Brochures

The reports and brochures below provide a synopsis of workforce supply and demand for the State of Alabama, Jefferson and Mobile counties, and the ten Workforce Development Regions (Jefferson County data is included in Region 4 and Mobile County data is included in Region 9). The Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Alabama compiled the information.
